RM3009   Pericline (var. Albite), Ilmenite, clinochlore and quartz
More photos

Very remarkable specimen formed by several aggregates of pericline crystals, a variety of albite, well faceted, defined and with striated faces. It is worth highlighting numerous very brilliant ilmenite crystals in this specimen, with well-defined hexagonal shape. Ilmenite is an unusual species in this locality in the words of the owner of the original collection, Rudolf Hasler (Bleiberg-Kreuth). They are accompanied by groups of clinochlore and quartz crystals. It belongs from the collection of Peter Seroka (Girona), with label.

Size: 10.1 x 9 x 6.6 cm.
Main crystal: 1.9 cm.
Found in ±2011.

RM3008   Fehrite and devilline
More photos

Fehrite is a recent new species found in Almeria (Spain). Some years ago (2012) we identified this species in the Les Ferreres mine (Camprodon) but unfortunatelly we didn't have enough sample to finish detrmination and structural studies. Recently we found some more samples and the characterization was carried out based on the results obtained from the application of various analytical techniques: SEM-EDS, Raman and X-ray diffraction. Les Ferreres mine is the second locality worldwide for the species. We will send all reports to the buyer.
In this Catalan mine, fehrite appears as elongated elongated tabular to fibrous crystals, with a delicate bluish-green tone, and fibrous terminations. Usually, it is accompanied by devilline (blue) and brochantite (green). It is the magnesium analogue of ktenasite.

Size: 2.3 x 1.1 x 1 cm.
Found in ±2019.

These specimens are a classic from Las Herrerías mine, and they appeared many years ago. In this piece we can observe a cavity in the rock partially filled with silver foliaceous aggregates, kongsbergite variety, very brilliant and with a silver color with bronze reflections and bluish iridescence, characteristic for the species. This aesthetic and historical specimen has been analyzed and the result will be sent to the buyer. It belongs from the Rolando Gallina mineral collection (Italy).

RM3007   Malachite

These specimens of malachite present mamelonar, botryoidal to stalactic growths, with a very intense characteristic green color and silky luster. If they are observed under magnification, they show us that the sparkly green is produced by small malachite crystals that cover the surface. The photograph does not reflect all the splendor and brilliance of the piece. They are disposed on a fibrous malachite matrix. Very aesthetic.

RM2999   Pyrolusite and manganite
More photos

A novelty from Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines 2022. These specimens come from a recent find in this mining area of the Black Forest and are reminiscent of those found decades ago in this area. They show radial aggregates of extremely brilliant pyrolusite crystals that partially replace manganite. By X-ray diffraction we have been determined the presence of both species, even with a certain predominance of manganite. They usually appear on a matrix of pink granite or as groups of large crystals in parallel growth. In the specimens we can observe the inclined flattened terminal faces. They are highly aesthetic pieces those will become part of the best specimens of these species for European mineralogy. We will send the XRD to the buyer.

RM2992   Arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite
More photos

These specimens of Peruvian arsenopyrite stand out for their excellent luster and perfection of its crystals. With the camera I am not able to capture its real beauty. On a sulfide matrix we can enjoy hundreds of arsenopyrite crystals, prismatic, with defined terminal faces, rather than well-defined. They're accompanied by chalcopyrite crystals with dull luster, but gold tone, also well-defined and twinned. Brilliance and quality. Good sized specimen.
