RM335   Cobaltoan calcite with aragonite

A nice cobaltoan calcite specimen showing polished concretionary growths with a good and deep color and including white aragonite. The mineralization is filling fissures of the Triassic conglomerates, which are visible in this specimen. Main side shows a polished section where we can enjoy perfectly banded purple calcite and conglomerate individual clasts. Nowadays mine is partially collapsed and restored and it is impossible to get specimens.

Cobaltoan calcite specimen showing brilliant carbonate growths with colours between magenta and yellow, typical for this classic Catalan mine. The mineralization is filling fissures of the Triassic conglomerates. Nowadays mine is partially collapsed and restored and it is impossible to get specimens. This sample is from a previous single finding before shaft was filled and some galleries restored.

A huge size cobaltoan calcite specimen showing concretionary growths with a good and deep purple color. The mineralization is filling fissures of the Triassic conglomerates, which are very visible in this specimen and with a cavity that gives an aesthetic shape.

One side shows a polished section where we can enjoy perfectly banded purple calcite and conglomerate individual clasts. On the other side fracture is totally natural and not polished. Nowadays mine is partially collapsed and restored and it is impossible to get specimens.

RM319   Pyomorphite on limonite

Rich group of small hexagonal prismatic pyromorphite crystals with an intense green color partially covering a vug on a limonite rocky matrix. Crystals are very sharp and color very uniform. From a Spanish locality not well represented in collections.

RM140   Jarosite

Group of flattened tabular jarosite crystals, very sharp and rich in faces, with an intense luster and brown color. We would like to emphasize the transparence and the crystal size.
This sample is from the Arteal tunnel (also known as Santa Bárbara pit), today it is impossible to collect more specimens because tunnel collapsed in first months of 2011.

RM121   Marcasite (Sperkise twin)

A very rich marcasite specimen covered by a layer of small but very sharp and brilliant crystals, with metallic reflections between gold and greenish tones, with iridescence.

These marcasite crystals show tabular forms and the Sperkise twin (from the German SpeerkiesSpeer: spear and Kies: rock-. It has been used as a synonym for marcasite specimens). This twin is characterized by being formed by 4 or 5 crystals cyclically disposed around a central axis parallel to c.
