Smoky quartz crystals with parallel growths. Smoky tone is good. The quartz crystals from this quarry are a classic of Catalan mineralogy. Currently quarry is abandoned and it is difficult to find new specimens.

Rich specimen formed by numerous isolated fluellite crystals and forming groups, with a pink to violet color, an unusual fact since fluellite is usually colorless. It is accompanied by whitish to slightly greenish growths of metavariscite. Under magnification we can observe globules of this last phosphate. These specimens are a classic of mining in Navarra and are currently only available through old collections.

These specimens from the La Viesca mine are very rare and appeared in the middle of the last decade. It is a very bright specimen formed mainly by cubic fluorite crystals with polysynthetic growths on the faces and asymmetrically beveled edges, transparent and colorless. They are accompanied by bright and well-defined chalcopyrite crystals, along with complex and transparent honey-colored crystals of sphalerite. With galena and quartz. Highly prized for their rarity.

Specimen formed by numerous globular aggregates of talc, silky and slightly yellowish, which are accompanied by honey-colored dolomite crystals. A very aesthetic and old specimen for this mine from León.

Group of magnetite crystals with octahedral shapes and polysynthetic growths on the faces, good luster and size. With pyrite crystals on the backside of the specimen. It belongs from the Lluis Manchion collection with a handwritten label.

Druse of cubic fluorite crystals, with the edges beveled by the dodecahedron, transparent to translucent, with a violet to bluish color depending on the type of light. Presents some exfoliation without affecting aesthetics. With quartz and some inclusions of chalcopyrite.

Unfortunately when we were able to access these works, the exact place where these specimens were extracted from had already been filled and covered with concrete. Variscite had not been found in the Bruguers area for many decades, let alone with this quality. X-ray diffraction results indicated the presence of crandallite. We recommend the recently published book: "Mines i minerals de la serra de les Ferreres. Les mines de Rocabruna, Bruguers, Gavà" (Catalan language).

Aesthetic specimen that combines an upper part formd by goethite botryoidal aggregates, with a semi-matt luster, and a lower part with stalactitic growths of manganese oxides. They are accompanied by hematite of intense red color and baryte. A very interesting specimen from "la Sierra de la Unión".

Group of very well defined fluorite crystals, between transparent and translucent, and with a yellowish-green color characteristic of this mine. Some have color zoning. They are accompanied by small crystals and hyaline quartz. These specimens that we offer were collected in the early 70s.

In this specimen we can observe several almandine garnet crystals included in a matrix with violet-blue cordierite crystals, the pleochroism of which can be observed on the edges. The specimen belonged to the Peter Seroka collection.

Group of diopside crystals with an intense green color, parallel growths, brilliant and translucent. A specimen of this classic Spanish locality from the Peter Seroka collection.

Very good size specimen of celestine from this classic Spanish locality. In this specimen we can observe various botryoidal to stalactitic forms, one of them in the form of a bridge-curl, and which cover old celestine crystals, as evidenced by the rounded prismatic shapes.

Specimens of bavenite from Cadalso de los Vidrios are a classic of Spanish mineralogy and pieces of this beryllium and calcium aluminosilicate had not been seen for quite some time. In this good-sized specimen formed by parallel growths of microcline crystals with albite, we can observe numerous rosette-shaped aggregates of tabular bavenite crystals, well defined, brilliant, and colorless to slightly yellowish. The specimen belongs to a North American collection.

Classic locality

Scolecite and aerinite specimens from this Aragonese area are known worldwide. This specimen shows us groups of acicular crystals forming radiated aggregates in the dolerite and that, when extracted, allow us to see their internal arrangement perfectly. White in color, with iron oxydes patina, and good brilliance. Samples of this quality and size are not common and even less so today.

Kyanite specimens from this border area between the towns of Montejo de la Sierra (Madrid) and El Cardoso de la Sierra (Guadalajara) have been the subject of discussion for a long time. In the area there are different deposits from which they can belong. In this specimen, the Baltasar Sánchez label is preserved, indicating the specimen from El Zahurdón, in Montejo de la Sierra. In the area we have toponyms such as Corrales de Zahurdón. Peter Seroka, to whom this piece belonged, indicates already in 1973 the presence of kyanite about 1000 m from the milestone of Km 3 of the road from Montejo to El Cardoso (Miguel Calvo's Mines and Minerals of Spain), see discussion in this link.
This specimen shows a group of kyanite crystals on a matrix with quartz, with an intense color. It is accompanied by the two mentioned labels. Very interesting...

Beryl crystal from this classic Spanish locality, very good sized, well defined faces and with muscovite at the base. Translucent in the edges. The specimen belongs from the Peter Seroka collection and due to its number label it can be placed in the 1980s. These pieces are difficult to see today.

A Catalan new found. Group of amethyst quartz crystals in parallel growth, transparent to translucent. On quartz matrix. The area is known for historical finds of smoky quartz crystals, not so much amethyst quartz.

Very well defined microcline crystal that shows us a very clean prism finished in complex shapes among which the Baveno twin can be observed. This specimen comes from the Peter Seroka collection and belongs from the quarries in the Bustarviejo area (Madrid).

This specimen may not stand out for its beauty but for us it stands out for its location and the origin of the specimen. It is a chalcedony with opal from the area near Vallecas, in Madrid. Fluorescent under SWUV. The sample belongs from the Bergakademie in Freiberg and due to the attached labels we can place it in the 19th century, when Vallecas was a small village. Through the other labels we can also follow its evolution in collections until a few decades ago. A piece with history, without a doubt.

Rich aggregates of yuanfuliite needle like crystals, with orange-red color. They are accompanied by globular and brilliant calcite, hematite and yellow color richterite/fluoro-richterite and diopside sharp crystals. From this classic Spanish locality.

Classic locality

Fehrite is a recent new species found in Almeria (Spain). Some years ago (2012) we identified this species in the Les Ferreres mine (Camprodon) but unfortunatelly we didn't have enough sample to finish detrmination and structural studies. Recently we found some more samples and the characterization was carried out based on the results obtained from the application of various analytical techniques: SEM-EDS, Raman and X-ray diffraction. Les Ferreres mine is the second locality worldwide for the species. We will send all reports to the buyer.
In this Catalan mine, fehrite appears as elongated elongated tabular to fibrous crystals, with a delicate bluish-green tone, and fibrous terminations. Usually, it is accompanied by devilline (blue) and brochantite (green). It is the magnesium analogue of ktenasite.
