RM3102   Chalcocite
More photos

Group of tabular chalcocite crystals, well defined and with polysynthetic growths on faces. Some present fractures where we can observe the metallic luster of the species. Specimens from this mine are rare on the market. It belongs from the former René Hubin collection (Neupré, Belgium) and is accompanied by the label. Nice miniature.

Size: 3 x 2.9 x 1.8 cm.
Main crystal: 1.1 cm.

Col. R. Hubin (Belgique).

RM2718   Kolwezite and cobaltoan calcite
More photos

Exceptional specimen of kolwezite, which occurs as globular aggregates of olive-green crystals, partially covered by a yellowish earthy patina. They are disposed on a matrix of pink crystals of cobaltoan calcite. An exceptional sample for the species. We have analyzed it to check the content of Co. The average of various analyzes indicates a Co: Cu ratio of 1: 2.3-2.6, consistent with some results from other specimens with 1: 2 ratios. Various black aggregates appear in the sample, sometimes partially covering kolwezite, which corresponds to heterogenite. Also with small malachite crystals.

Size: 9.8 x 7.5 x 6.2 cm.

Very aesthetic group of sklodowskite crystals, showing a very sharp prismatic crystals, with transparence and intense yellow color. Old and really good specimen from col. Coune (B) collection, found in 1960's. This species is named by Marie Skłodowska-Curie.

Size: 5.8 x 5.4 xd 3.6 cm.

RM1392   Kamotoite-(Y)

The kamotoite-(Y) are the intense yellow crystalline sprays, with individual flat-laying crystals to 5 mm. brilliant and transperent. In the same sample we can observe probably a small vein of yellow to orange brilliant uranophane. Kamoto is the Type Locality for the species. A very rare uranium and ytrium mineral from Katanga.
