The Monteponi phosgenite specimens are a classic of European and worldwide mineralogy. This specimen shows us two differentiated zones. One with a group of phosgenite crystals in parallel growth accompanied by a well defined prismatic crystal. Translucent and with the classic honey gray tone. They are disposed on a galena matrix with numerous anglesite crystals. This specimen belongs with the label of the René Hubin collection (Belgium).


Size: 7.2 x 5.8 x 4.1 cm.

Very rich group of anglesite crystals, which show very good transparence, defined faces and edges, formed by first and second order prisms. They are disposed in a cavity of the galena matrix. From a classic Italian locality from where it is not easy to find anglesite specimens of this quality in the market. It comes from the former collection of L. Daunis (Barcelona) with handwriten label.

The baryte specimens of this Italian mine, which finished its work in the 80's, are considered among the best European classics for the species. This specimen presents a rich group of tabular crystals, with sharp edges and faces, excellent transparence and a superb toasted honey color. It emphasizes among them a crystal of more than 5 cm. Nowadays it is very difficult to find these samples with this quality. An European classic.

This specimen is from a former Italian collection of early last century, G. d'Anna. It is known that a so called Giusseppe d'Anna of Telve was a military hero of World War I (see minrec). Also accompanying label store minerals Freiberg Mining Academy (more info). This fact and quality make this sample very special. The piece presents a prismatic crystal of cerussite embedded in a galena matrix. A very interesting and historic specimen.
