Excellent specimen of fluorite with an intense color and well defined faces and edges. It shows polycrystalline cubic growths with a color that varies between violet to purple depending on the light, with geometric color zoning. It is accompanied by quartz crystals.
These crystals show astonishing sharpness of tetrahexahedron faces, together with the less developed cube. Crystals are uncolored (under halogen light) or slightly bluish (under fluorescent light), bright and completely clear and are scattered over an esthetic matrix of white crystals of barite. A high-quality specimen that belonged to the Silvane (Barcelona) collection.
A very rich group of pyrite crystals forming a globular aggregate, very brilliant, with an intense color and hinting cubic faces. It is disposed very aerial on the matrix with rhombohedral calcite crystals and yellow fluorite. To increase its aesthetics a single calcite crystal has grown on the pyrite. A unusual specimen for this mine where pyrite is often found in small crystals coating the fluorite.
A very rich group of interpenetrated fluorite crystals with cubic forms with beveled edges by the dodecahedron. Very sharp and with a really intense color, that varies depending on the incident light, between blue-violet to purple. A high quality Spanish fluorite specimen, from my own collection.
Group of very sharp fluorite crystals with good transparence and brilliance, with a bluish color, well disposed very aerial on a barite matrix. We would like to emphisize the size of the main crystal and its good definition, showing perfectly tetrahexahedron faces with an interesting slight curvature. A classic from Asturies.
A floater. Group of interpenetrated cubic fluorite crystals with defined faces and beveled edges, and showing echeloned growths. Good brilliance, translucent and with color zoning between blue to violet, more intense in the crystal core and very intense in some edges. Accompanied with scalenohedral calcite crystals. A very aesthetic specimen with a good size. From a Spanish classic mine.
Group of interpenetrated fluorite crystals showing well defined faces, with delicate polysynthetic growth, and visible beveled edges. Good transparence and violet color with geometrical zoning. It presents the peculiarity of having a face that does not correspond to the predominant cube shape. On a quartz layered rocky matrix. A sample with characteristics that make it very interesting for fluorite collectors and from a classic Spanish locality.
Group of fluorite crystal showing an elongated cubic prism, beveled on edges, with excellent violet color zoning. Directionally, they are partially covered with a layer of white quartz we wanted to preserve. They are very aerial disposed on a matrix covered by small but brilliant quartz crystals. They were extracted from la "coquera" (vug) called La Negrina (the black one), that appeared between March and April, 2006.
A rich group of well-defined cubic crystals of fluorite showing polysynthetic growth on faces. Violet-purple color is very, very intense, with geometrical zoning in the crystal core. Many of them are interpenetrating, giving the whole a unique aesthetics. From a classic Asturian locality.
Curious specimen of calcite from Moscona. Formed by some crystals, one of them predominant, with complex rhombohedrall faces with echeloned growth. Accompanied by tabular barite crystals and on a yellow fluorite matrix.
Excellent and rich group of scalenohedral calcite crystals, with defined faces and edges. Some of them show the tips slightly reddish. They are very brilliant and translucent. Accompanied by shiny aggregates of tabular transparent barite crystals. A very showy specimen from a classic locality.
Excellent specimen formed by several groups of transparent tabular barite crystals forming globular aggregates, with transparence, brilliance and very sharp faces and edges. Very aesthetically disposed on a fluorite cubic crystals matrix with yellow color and transparence. Accompanied by dolomite saddle-shaped crystals and chalcopyrite. A Spanish classic of the best quality.
In this specimen we can observe some groups of native copper crystals, with defined faces and edges, good luster and color. They are disposed on a black layer of pyrolusite and accompanied by some white to translucent calcite flattened rhombohedral crystals. These specimens were collected in a concrete areas of this mine.
A very rich group of fluorite crystals with a good size and defined faces and rounded beveled edges. The faces show polysynthetic growths those give it a curious echelonesd forms and accompanied by complex redissolution structures. Really interesting. The color is intensely violet, deep in the inner parts of the crystal and clearer in the outer ones. Good brilliance and transparence when the light strikes on them. A specimen of the past times, rarely seen nowadays. It belonged to an old German collection. Col. Nr. 7.
Group of very sharp fluorite crystals from this classic of the Spanish mineralogy. We can see the cube forms, with defined edges and faces. With clear geometric color zoning, between purple to violet depending on the incident light, more intense in the crystal core. A specimen of fluorite which collector should not miss.
Group of fluorite crystals with an intense luster, violet tones with color zoning more intense in the crystal core and geometric in faces. They show polysynthetic growths on faces that give them a particular shape. With some minor damages on some edges, but overall aesthetic. The sample is from an old German collection. A Spanish classic.
Group of very sharp interpenetrated fluorite crystals, with cubic faces showing echeloned forms. The violet-purple color is very intense, but when light passes through them it shows transparence and color zoning, intense in the external faces of the crystal and slight green tones inside. Good luster.
This specimen, that comes from an old German collection and was collected in the mid-80 in the mining area of La Collada, is very distinctive and it isn't easy to see similar in the mineral market. Its color and disposition make it very atractive to fluorite collectors. A former classic specimen from Asturias.
The colorless crystals of fluorite from Emilio mine are well known and show a hyaline transparency. It is hard to capture their brilliance with the camera. This specimen shows a cubic crystal druse with forms of the trapezohedron at the vertices. With some inclusions. Few crystals show small notches on the edges, very common in Emilio fluorite crystals because of its sensitivity to temperature changes, but without affecting their beauty.
A brilliant miniature!
In this brilliant spoecimen we can enjoy some groups of cubic crystals of fluorite with defined edges and echeloned growths on faces. With an excellent transparence and a marked geometric color zoning, from colorless to violet and purple. Fluorite crystals are disposed on a matrix partially covered by small but bright quartz crystals and some tabular barite. An oldie from this mine.
Group of cubic crystals of fluorite, some bevelled by rhombododecahedron, transparent, brilliant, defined and more intense color zoning in the crystal core. Deep violet to purple tones, according to incident light. It is accompanied by quartz and barite crystals clearly visible on the back side. A Spanish classic from a old German collection.
