RM1337   Sphalerite with marcasite, pyrite and quartz

Unusual specimen for this Moroccan locality formed by a quartz matrix on which stand numerous groups of sphalerite crystals with a toasted honey tone, translucent and bright. They accompanied by brilliant pyrite crystals and very interesting aggregates of twinned marcasite. A piece almost unique.
These mines are located approximately 50 km south of Alnif, near the border with Algeria. This area was already mined in medieval age for the extraction of copper. In the 60s of the last century, French companies expanded shafts and mineral extraction.

Size: 10.7 x 7.0 x 4.0 cm.
Main crystal: 10 x 9 mm.
